French 18th Century Painted Armoire

This exceptional 18th century armoire is from the rugged and mountainous region of the Jura in France. The armoire was found in original condition, dans son jus, with the original dove grey painted finish intact. I have left this piece unwaxed as it is so rare to find 18th century paint untouched. The armoire dates from the end of the 18th century and is Louis 15th period. The armoire would have been corniced into the room where it was placed in it's rural home and hence does not have, and has never had, a traditional cornice. This is something that could be fabricated if it were preferred. The armoire has two secret cubby holes hidden in the floor of the cupboard and it still has it's original key.

An exciting find and a beautifully restrained and authentic piece for a discerning home.
